"There is hardly another gaming PC that can deliver more frames per kilo." So was the clear conclusion of the editors of Netzwelt about the Shuttle XPC P 2500G. No wonder. After an impressively good first impression "sweet little one," the "powerful mini" really got to work.
The Shuttle XPC P 2500G offers everything gamers and high-performance users could ever wish for: an AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 processor with dual cores clocked at 2.6 GHz, two GB of RAM from TakeMS, a high-end graphics card from Connect3D with an ATI Radeon X1900 XT chip as well as a 250GB hard drive from Samsung and a Shuttle CR40 dual layer DVD writer. "The gamers targeted cube is basically a normal PC, only much, much smaller. It is light and easy to carry, and can easily be taken under one's arm or in a backpack." Looks aren't everything though – but that's not a problem either: "Small on the outside, plenty big on the inside."
"It may be small, but the SFF PC need not fear from a lack of connections." With 6 USB and 2 FireWire ports in addition to headphone, microphone, line-in, line-out and S/PDIF, topped by an integrated 8-in-1 card reader.
"Once the initial configuration done, the pre-installed version of Windows XP Pro boots up in 35 seconds once the round power button has been pressed." And that's when the party really gets started: "No matter what task you have in mind for this small wonder, it won't make you wait. Its performance leaves all normal PCs and notebooks drooling with envy." Head to head comparison, anyone? "Going up against the twice as large Dell Dimension XPS 600, the Shuttle XPC P 2500G showed why it has to be taken seriously. In most gaming benchmarks the diminutive power cube edge out its clunky competitor."
Conclusion:
"The Shuttle XPC P 2500G runs without a hitch, showing itself to be a real joy to work with. Even many "grown up" PCs show themselves unable to keep up. Netzwelt says: There is no other PC out there that can deliver higher frame rates per kilo."
Pros:
- Light and easy to handle
- Efficient cooling
- Power consumption in 2D mode
- Excellent gaming and system performance
