A Media Center PC will replace stand-alone systems like video recorders, DVD- and CD-players in the living room in the near future. On their campaign to conquer the living rooms they still run into obstacles as the editors of the British lifestyle magazins Digital Home discovered: "While we're fans of Media Center here at Digital Home, it's become obvious that the current crop of MCE machines have no place in the living room. They're too big, too noisy and lack the style and sophistication of an AV component." But now the experts of Digital Home found what they had been looking for. "Now this is what we call a living room PC," write the editors about the Shuttle XPC System M1000 - the latest Media Center solution from Shuttle.
We'd have a Media Center, but we'd stick it out of the way where the fan noise won't bother us," explain the editors of the British lifestyle magazine Digital Home. Previous Media Center weren't ready for the living-room, because of noise and size. But there's light at the end of the tunnel: "PCs are changing," realize the editors. Such like the Shuttle XPC System M1000 that comes in HiFi-format and will seamlessly integrate into the living room convincing the editors: "PCs are slowly becoming quieter and smaller, and nothing showcases this better than Shuttle's XPC System M1000." It knows how to impress in terms of style: "The instant appeal of the Shuttle XPC M1000 is its slim-build form factor, giving it the look and feel of a DVD-recorder."
But design isn't all that matters in the living room, as the Shuttle XPC System M1000 takes the wind out of the editors sails: "And thanks to the fact that it's based around the mobile variant of Intel's 915 chipset and a Pentium M processor, it also promises to be astonishingly quiet," write the editors ruling out noise issues. Due to its low power consumption the Shuttle XPC System M1000 is guaranteed to be a discreet presence in the living-room. As a living-room appearance a system will have to feature highest connectivity, too: "Boasting 7.1 sound support, an FM tuner, plus remote control and wireless keyboard, the Shuttle XPC System M1000 will boost the charisma of Media Center machines.
Conclusion:
"This is the shape of PCs to come."
