Computer!Totaal: "8 out of 10"

The Shuttle XPC P2 3500G claims to be "a little speed demon that is ideally suited to run demanding games and manage general computing needs." But does it live up to this promises? The editors of the leading Dutch IT magazine Computer!Totaal took a closer look at the unit.

"The Shuttle P2 3500G is based on a motherboard with Intel P35 and ICH9R chipset," unveil the editors of the Dutch computer magazine Computer!Totaal the heart of the PC. Designed as an Intel platform, the P2 3500G is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor which is "affordable" and "performing very well." With reference to the Shuttle Systems Configurator, the editors point out that it is "also available with a dual core processor." Besides 4GB of memory, the P2 3500G comes with an ATI Radeon HD 3870 graphics card built in which is "excellent value for money," according to Computer!Totaal. Plus, gaming at a resolution of 1920x1200 is "not a problem."

Conclusion: "Shuttle combines fast, modern hardware with a tiny case."

"Numerous connectors" and ports reveal both the front and back panel with an integrated fingerprint reader being a "nice extra feature." The reviews unit is loaded with an 750GB Samsung hard drive, with different sizes subject to configuration. When powered on, the Shuttle XPC P2 3500G makes "very little noise, thanks to its passive cooling." Both the "chipset and MOSFET are being cooled by a passive heatpipe system," explain the editors.

During a stress test the temperature of the graphics card didn't go beyond 88 degrees – "a great value considered how small the case is," the editors continue. Despite being a gaming/performance box, the P2 3500G also convinces when it comes to power consumption. "Under maximum load the consumption doesn't exceed 215 Watt."

Pros:

+ Stylish, small case
+ Good performance in games
+ Large hard disk
+ Allrounder
