PCM: Full Score - 5 out of 5 Stars"We are very impressed by Shuttle's SG33G5M," conclude the editors of the Dutch computer magazine PCM having had a closer look at Shuttle's latest Intel-based media centre barebone PC. When it comes to media centre applications, "there are not many barebones which are better suited than this one," state the editors.

"SFF PC cases have grown bigger and bigger recently, as they were added numerous extras," the editors of the Dutch computer magazine PCM have noticed. "It's good to see Shuttle has managed to squeeze this functionality into a very small case once more," they add.

Conclusion: "We are very impressed by Shuttle's SG33G5M. It doesn't leave much over to be desired, if it's not the moderate integrated chipset."

Being about "20 centimetres tall" the Shuttle XPC Barebone SG33G5M shows up dressed in black with a built-in display on the reflective front "that adds a luxury feel." The SG33G5M is prepared to take "any of Intel's most recent Core 2 Duo/Quad processors" and uses Intel's G33 chipset with GMA 3100 graphics engine. "There is plenty of connectivity," the editors discovered on the rear side. "Fortunately, Shuttle has put the internal wiring to the sides and fixed everything with clips." Bringing the barebones PC to life, it was equipped with an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 and an AMD Radeon 2600 XT and the SG33G5M proved itself and ran "whisper quiet" thanks to the CPU heatpipe cooling and the "quiet fan" on the rear.

The delivery also includes a remote control to access the PC right from the sofa without having to bend down. Considering all this, the price is "very reasonable," the editors pointed out.

Pros:

- Quiet
- Stylish design
- Great performance
- High connectivity
