Personal Computer World: "Very good barebones PC"

"High-quality finish, quiet, compact." Key words that match Shuttle XPCs perfectly. This time the editors of the British computer magazine PC World commend the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD39P2 dedicated to gamers which can "still accommodate some of the highest quality components."

"The SD39P2 is a small barebones PC, which includes a motherboard, case and power supply," explain the editors what Shuttle has become famous for. The latest addition to the XPC familiy is the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD39P2 which, "with gamers in mind," is built around the Intel 975X chipset and boasts capacity for up to 8GB of RAM. Moreover, "it can take all of Intel's fastest processors, including its latest and greatest quad core processor, the QX6700," points out PC World.

Connection-wise, the editors found "a plethora of ports sit on the back, including six USB, 7.1 sound output, SPDIF in/out, Ethernet, Firewire 400, Sata external. A further two USB ports and Firewire connection sit behind a hinge on the front."

Conclusion: "The SD39P2 is a great small case that can still accommodate some of the highest quality components."

Having proven that the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD39P2 "can power some extremely beefy and power-hungry components," it also managed to stay "actually quite quiet." Five fans sit inside the case that "keep the system cool," explain the editors who Shuttle wins the battle of banning heat and noise. To put it in a nutshell, "this is a very good barebones PC and, as such, at £330 it carries a higher price than many of its competitors."

Pros:

  • High-quality finish
