Matbe.com : "SN27P2 vs. SD37P2"

The French speaking web site Matbe.com recently tested Shuttle's first two XPC Barebones with the new P2 chassis - the Shuttle XPC Barebones SD37P2 and SN27P2. For Matbe.com, Shuttle and "their XPCs have always been on top when it comes to new technologies available and support for the latest chipsets and processors on the market," state the editors. This is why the latest Shuttle XPC Barebones for Intel Core 2 Duo and AM2 processors have paid a visit to the labs of Matbe.com. Both of them finished the tests with good ratings.

"A new chassis for two new high end XPCs"
"The P2 is the successor of the very nice P chassis," wrote the Matbe.com testers enthusiastically about the P2 chassis and couldn't wait to have a look at it. But unlike the previous review unit, here it "seems to be an integral whole. The panel is made of beautiful brushed aluminum with a shiny plastic frame. "In our opinion this new design really is a success," state the testers also adding: "the buttons on the front are elegantly integrated in the panel so are the on and activity LEDs." Having had a closer look at the inside, "you will find two 3½ bays for hard drive and room for a 5¼ and another 3½ drive." Of course, "these new barebones are the first ones to support up to four memory modules."

Conclusion:

"The release of a new Shuttle chassis is always a special event in the barebone market. The engineers of the P2 chassis managed to integrate the technical advantages of the P chassis also adding a more stylish design. They provided enough room for an easy installation of the components, but also developed a clever cable routing so that the connectors are always accessible and positioned where we need them."

"Equipped with the nForce 570 Ultra (SN27P2) and Intel 975X (SD37P2) chipsets and support for AM2 and Core 2 Duo processors, these two barebones are top of the line with the technology available, proving the long lasting experience of Shuttle once more. Featuring a number of high quality features like 8 channel sound and digital or optical outputs, we make it short and say these two are very high-end level PCs."
