2005-10-21 - Shuttle racks up three awards in a single review from Barebonecenter.de
"Silence and Performance." An impossible combination? Not for the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD11G5 for Pentium M processors, featuring an external power supply. Yet the latest Small Form Factor (SFF) PC from Shuttle proved able to defy the conventional wisdom. Not surprising then that the German website Barebonecenter.de gave the latest Shuttle three awards in one test: Performance, Silence and Silver Awards.
The Shutle XPC Barebone SD11G5 has been designed for Intel's much acclaimed Pentium M processors. The reviewers from Barebonecenter.de, who place special importance on low noise levels, were keen to see what the latest SFF PC from Shuttle could do. They weren't disappointed: with a noise level of 24dB "the SD11G5 is barely audible, and earns itself the Silent Award."
Performance and silence should also not be achieved at the expense of stability and reliability: "The PC did not experience a single crash, even after running it for 24 hours straight." Assembly and finition were, as one would expect, typically Shuttle: "This is truly a quality product." The Shuttle XPC Barebone SD11G5 also offers plenty of expansion possibilities, with PCIe slots (16x and 1x) and a mini-PCI slot.
Conclusion:
"Power consumption can't be forgotten. The Shuttle SD11G5 distinguishes itself in this case thanks to a low consumption CPU."
Pros:
- quality of assembly
- quiet operation
- overclocking potential of the CPU
- good expansion options through PCIe 16x, PCI 1x and mini-PCI
