2005-08-31 - PC Games Hardware: "Barebone with clever design"

How much performance can be stuffed into a SFF PC? More than the editors of the German hardware magazine PC Games Hardware expected. The Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P impresses as the world's first SLI SFF PC with two NVIDIA GeForce 6800 graphics cards helping it to get excellent performance ratings. Designed for high-end gaming, temperatures remained low just like its noise level. When it comes to purchasing, value for money is the matter - the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P finished with "good" in this respect.

The editors of the German hardware magazine PC Games Hardware had a closer look at the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P. The first SFF PC for SLI was ready for review being equipped with two NVIDIA Geforce 6800 graphics cards, an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ dual core processor, one Gigabyte of RAM and a 250 Gbyte hard disk, this configuration helped the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P to earn outstanding performance ratings. Very striking were its low temperatures that is realized by the SLI heatpipe cooling. Especially designed for combining the two graphics cards the editors say: "Positive - even in 3D applications, the CPU at 45 degrees, the hard disk at 37 degrees and the case itself at 35 degrees don't get too hot." But not only the temperature remained low, so does the noise level: "The noise level is good for a SFF PC, with 1.5 Sone (Windows) and 2.3 Sone (3D) only."
