2005-06-13 - Facts: "High end meets lifestyle"

"Shuttle presented with its XPC System P 8100G a complete system that offers dazzling looks and doesn't compromise on performance." The staff of the German business magazine Facts wanted to know how much performance is hidden inside Shuttle's Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs – and was delighted with the results: "The computer manufacturer Shuttle shows with its complete system that power doesn’t need much space." No wonder then that this "design piece" and "power package" in one was rated "very good" by the editors.

"With a height of 21 centimeters this Small Form Factor (SFF) PC is not even half as big as a standard desktop computer," write the editors of the German business magazine Facts. Which makes Shuttle's complete system not only smaller but also much more attractive than the traditional large beige machines: "The P 8100G has an elegant black aluminum chassis with a mirrored front – a nice eye-catcher that you don't have to hide under your desk." Performance is also on hand of course: "Shuttle shows with its complete system that you don't need a lot of space to deliver a lot of performance. Despite its small size the system is able to fight even larger rivals when it comes to performance." To help it do so, it comes with an Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 3.4 Ghz, an ATI Radeon X600 PCI-Express graphics card, 1 GB of RAM, a 250 GB hard disk and a 16x dual-layer DVD burner.

The target group for the Shuttle XPC System P 8100G is clear for the editors: "So equipped the system covers all kinds of demands: from professional picture and video designing to gaming. For multimedia fans, Shuttle has even integrated an 8-channel sound chip."

The Shuttle XP17 TempAR also put on a good… display: "This device delivers a crystal clear picture with a native resolution of 1280x1024 and a contrast ratio of 500:1. With the fast response time of only 8 ms the device is also well suited for video streaming." As for the TFT's looks, the editors added: "The ultra flat design of the display is surrounded by a beautiful aluminum frame […]  the aluminum frame also has a carrying handle a the top[.]"

Conclusion:

"The complete system P 8100G is not only a design piece but also a true power package designed for performance hungry applications. With the power and the integrated components it would be quite a pity to use this computer only for text processing at the office."

Facts Verdict:

Very good
