The editors of the German IT-website Netzwelt set out to answer the question: "Windows and the living room - Do they go well together?" In focus was the Shuttle XPC System G5 8300M: "For the second part of this detailed Shuttle report we have the chance to take a closer look at the Windows Media Center Edition." Find out, if the Microsoft operating system was as successful as the Shuttle XPC System G5 8300M.

"After our hard Benchmark tests the Shuttle XPC System leaves our labs and returns where it actually belongs - in the living room." Their intention wasn't simply to examine the hardware but also the software that should make a real living room PC out of the Shuttle XPC System G5 8300M. Via S-VGA the editors plugged in a monitor, while an
included adapter helped them connect an indoor antenna to a DVD-T-receiver for radio reception. Additionally, they used a USB-based infrared receiver to enable the remote control. All without a hitch. Displaying images or playing multimedia applications like DVDs or MP3s deserved special praise: "The VFD (Versatile-Front-Display) manages to display file names from images or music in a very stylish way." Want to show your latest photos to
friends? No problem: "Thanks to the integrated card reader your personal images can easily be transferred from the digital camera to the PC." And how about the software? The Windows Media Center Edition impressed the editors as well: "A lot of multimedia features packed in one software package."
