Computeractive: "Quiet and sleek media PC"

"Very stylish, with a couple of nice touches," state the editors of the British premier computer magazine Computeractive. Being "even smaller than Shuttle's normal cases," the unit also "draws minimal power." The model the editors are referring to is the Shuttle XPC mini X 200, is tiniest complete media centre PC from Shuttle.

"Shuttle is famous for having popularised the small computers a few years ago," explain the editors of Computeractive Shuttle's reputation. The smallest computer from Shuttle was designed to combine elegant design with multimedia functionality in the living room. It "looks good," notice the editors from a quick glance.

Besides the optical drive, a dual layer DVD writer, power button, one USB 2.0 connector and 4-in-1 card reader sit on the front panel. "Being a media computer the Shuttle XPC mini X 200 includes a hybrid TV tuner card as standard, which can pick up either analogue or digital television signals, describe the editors the interior musings. The editors furthermore say that the included 320GB hard disk size is ample. Contraryto the front which is mainly bare, the back panel" includes both a DVI socket for connecting to a monitor and an S-video socket for connecting to a TV.

Handily, it also includes adapters for VGA and HDMI ports, "continues Computeractive. Additionally, there's also an aerial for "connection to a wireless network, digital and analogue audio outputs and four USB ports." Performance-wise, "video and DVDs are no problem" for the Shuttle XPC mini X 200, according to Computeractive.

When put under load, it struck the editors most that the model drew "minimal power." In other words, with about 50w in testing, it drew "less than half of what a comparable computer might use." The reviews unit which boasted an Intel Core Duo processor and 1GB of memory, "can be upgraded at the time of purchase" as well. Moving on to warranty, two years of collect and return service are available as standard.
