Philip Alfred "Phil" Mickelson

Philip Alfred "Phil" Mickelson (born June 16, 1970 in San Diego, California) began playing golf at a very young age and copied his father's right handed swing while standing facing him, thus acquiring a left-handed swing despite being right-handed giving it the nickname “Lefty” right from its early amateur career that was already very successful.

He had won his first PGA Tour tournament at the Northern Telecom Open as an amateur – something even Tiger Woods couldn’t manage. Starting his career as a professional in 1992, Mickelson played his best season in 2004 winning the US-Masters as his very first Major tournament. In the same year he managed a rank in the Top 10 in each of the three other Majors. Since 1994 he has played in every Presidents-Cup or Ryder Cup team. He is one of the most popular and famous professional golfer on the Tour thanks to its spectacular art of playing golf and his likable personality. Phil Mickelson is married and has three children.
