2005-08-17 - Gamers.at: "Very good performance as expected"

2005-08-17 - Gamers.at:

It has arrived ready to "defeat everything in its path." One of the "ultimate performance monsters," the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P, has joined the Austrian hardware website Gamers.at and impressed with very good performance, a good cooling solution and low noise. The world's first SFF PC for SLI is ready to take its place "at the very top of the performance charts."

Gamers.at, the greatest Austrian online magazine for PC and console games was looking for the ultimate gaming-PC. Just clear that they couldn't miss the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P. The world's first SFF PC for SLI was equipped with an Athlon FX57, a Maxtor Maxline III 200GB hard disk as well as 2x Corsair (CL2) 512MB DDR400 memory. The assembly was very easy and "went without a hitch, like we know from other Shuttle XPCs." A LiteOn drive is "very good and fits perfectly into the case." But Shuttle did their part as well to make it a real gaming rig. The Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P shows off with two Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT powerful graphics cards. A special heatpipe cooling system for the graphics cards "keep their temperature down." Contrary to their expectations, Shuttle did a very good job with their heatpipe solution: "The Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P's noise level under full load isn't higher compared to normal XPCs," explain the editors. But it wasn't just the graphics performance that could impress: "Apart from numerous onboard features like Gigabit-LAN, FireWire and a serial interface" the Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P is equipped with a VIA Envy 24PT 8-channel soundchip that "performs well."

Performance was "very good as expected." Furthermore, it impresses with its very good cooling so one don't need to fear heat issues.

Conclusion:

"What we had in our labs was a SFF PC that settles to the top ofthe performance scale. The Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P is kind of an understatement just like its brothers, but it will be the system to go with for all LAN-party-goers, as its performance must be described as very good with low noise level.

Pros

  • Very good performance
  • No heat issues
  • Low noise level
