The Shuttle XP17 TFT display was recently awarded the red dot design award. But the next award may not have to wait long. Shuttle’s stylish TFT displays have been nominated for Germany's Design Award. Nominations are made exclusively by economics ministers or senators. One condition is that a product must have won a national or international prize. This being the case for the Shuttle XP17 TFT displays, they are now ready to face off against the other nominees.

Due to its strict nomination conditions the Design Prize of Germany is considered the "prize of prizes." A total of 25 products will be recognized with either a "Gold" or "Silver" award.  The German Ministry for Economic Affairs is the initiator of the official Design Award of Germany and put the "Rat für Formgebung als deutsches Kompetenzzentrum für Design" in charge of managing the Design Award founded in 1969. (Until 1986 known as the prize for "Gute Form" then changed into "Bundespreis Produktdesign" until 2000.)

The international jury is composed of:

  • Konstantin Grcic, Designer, Munich
  • James Irvine, Designer, Milan / London
  • Torsten Neeland, Designer, London
  • Herbert H. Schultes, Designer, Fürstenfeldbruck (chairman of jury)
  • Robert Thiemann, Editor in Chief of FRAME magazine, Amsterdam
