"The hunt for the fastest TFT" was announced by the staff of the German computer magazine PC Go. They are talking about the fastest 17 inch TFT-display to be exact. There are still some users holding on to their CRTs as the editors point out: "Whilst the CRTs are disappearing from offices and homes, there are two groups of PC users still favouring the older technique: Gamers and PC movie viewers." "The hunt for the fastest TFT" was announced by the staff of the German computer magazine PC Go. They are talking about the fastest 17 inch TFT-display to be exact. There are still some users holding on to their CRTs as the editors point out: "Whilst the CRTs are disappearing from offices and homes, there are two groups of PC users still favouring the older technique: Gamers and PC movie viewers." Really necessary? It's not, according to the editors' conclusion about the Shuttle XP17 TempAR TFT...
"For action movies, football matches or games the only thing that counts is response time -otherwise images won't be displayed flawlessly. That's why the staff of PC Go has tested six current 17 inch TFTs. Among them: the Shuttle XP17 TempAR TFT. Just with looks and workmanship the Shuttle XP17 had no problems to convince its testers: "It's obvious to see that mobile gamers have recently become a target group. Those go well with the Shuttle XP17 TempAR meeting their needs for an easy-to-carry-TFT perfectly thanks to a carrying handle and a robust glass panel."
But how about the technical side? Let's see what it has to offer. The editors had nothing to complain about: "It is easy to carry thanks to its handle and is fast enough even for the lastest 3D-shooters. The XP17 manages to do the black-white-black switch in very good 9.14 milliseconds. It just needs 22.34 milliseconds for the grey scale switches which was good. Its pictures are high contrast, colours are bright and impressive. Its colour purity is at 97.9 per cent. The colour temperature is 6762 Kelvin - a good value, so is the 168 Candela per square meter on average. The brightness was constant."
Conclusion:
"The XP17 looks exceptional and is one of the fastest TFTs available. Colour temperature and colour purity are good."
Rating: good
Pros:
- low response time
- clear images
