"When barebones have conquered the market, it would be hard to imagine a market without them. We have exclusively tested two models of them that came available in the beginning of September. The silver case of SB83G5 contains the Shuttle mainboard FB83 for Intel processors with LGA775 socket. Due to the Flex ATX format memory is to be found next to the side of the case. To access memory the drive bays for 3,5'' and 5,25'' will have to removed. Between processor and memory the Intel 915G chipset is located. The integrated graphics reaches 1472 points in 3Dmark 2003 that is quiet respectable at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Nevertheless you should send some money for a graphics card. The connector for that is a PCI Express 16x and is located opposite to the 250 Watt power supply. On one side is a PCI connector that can be used e.g. for a TV-card. We could measure 46,8 dB (A) for the SB83G5 under full load (volume depending on processor fan).

The only thing you notice is a little cube sitting peacefully in absolute silence. Even its temperature is stable under full load."
