Computer Buyer: "A great option if you want to go down the DIY small form factor PC route"

"If the thought of having to buy a pre-built PC just to join the small form factor party makes you wince, why not go down the DIY route," asks the British computer magazine Computer Buyer. "Shuttle offers an array of ‘barebones’ PCs that you can build your own computer around," and the editors recently had a look at two of them – the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD32G2 and the Shuttle T-Series Barebone SS21T.

Barebones PCs are an alternative option towards pre-built PCs. Shuttle XPC Barebones are more than just a chassis as "Shuttle also supplies a pre-fitted, motherboard, power supply and all the necessary cables," explains Computer Buyer.

Being cited for their "quieter-than-usual operation," Shuttle range of XPC Barebones is "bewilderingly extensive" and covers the fields of application Media Center, Gaming, Home and Business. Two solultions for the latter fields the editors now had a look at.

The Shuttle XPC Barebone SD32G2 designed for use in the home environment is Shuttle's second barebones PC for Intel Core 2 Duo and can "act as the basis of a pretty beefy PC" after having fit processor, memory, hard disk and optical drive in the box.

That done, "there’s no reason that this PC shouldn’t last a few years," according to Computer Buyer.
