2005-11-21 - Hardware-Test.dk: "Excellent system in performance and design"

With the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD31P the pure dual core power had landed in the labs of the Danish hardware portal Hardware-Test.dk. After several benchmarking, the "powerful machine turned out to be an excellent system both from a performance perspective, and when it comes to the state of the art SFF design."

The editors of the Danish hardware website had a closer at the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD31P, the world’s first dual core ready SFF PC. Based on the Intel 945G chipset, ready for socket 775 CPUs, 4x S-ATA, 2x FireWire, 10x USB and the built-in card reader it "has the potential to become a great gaming rig." Thanks to the spacious P-design, the user can install up to three hard drives. Feel like playing high demanding 3D games such as Doom3? Just use the integrated PCI-Express slot to throw in a powerful graphics card and there you go! After having loaded the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD31P with components, you’ll need a mighty power supply to feed them. And the included 350watt PSU provides "plenty of power to feed a high-end ATI or nVidia model," explain the editors.

Besides all the performance features where the Shuttle XPC Barebone SD31P managed the full score of 5/5 points, the design deserves a closer look at, too. "When it comes to state of the art SFF design the SD31P is an excellent system," justify the editors the full rating of 5 out of 5 points in terms of design.

Conclusion:

"But all in all the SD31P is an excellent system both from a performance perspective, and when it comes to the state of the art SFF design."

Innovation/Technology: 4/5
Design/Layout: 5/5
