Hardware Info: "A good-looking base to set up a simple but solid system"
"Very compact computers that are equipped with latest technologies," this is what the brand Shuttle is known for according to the editors of the Dutch computer magazine Hardware Info. "Beautiful, but not cheap," they add. In fact, Shuttle takes even this hurdle proven by the introduction of the Shuttle T-Series which includes the SS31T – a "good example" of a "bargain product."
"The SS31T is a stylish black miditower," explain the editors the looks of Shuttle's new value series. It may not be so compact as its smaller cube-shaped brothers, but still makes for "a good-looking start for a simple system." Thanks for the taller size, the Shuttle T-Series Barebone SS31T can take up to two optical drives and 3.5 inch hard disks or card readers. It also banks on 1x PCI-E and 1x PCI slot for expansion cards. "The assembly basically isn't very hard to do," states Hardware Info. Simply the drive cage needs to be removed to access the memory banks on the mainboard. The latter features the SiS 662 chipset which is known for its "attractive price," even Core 2 Duo E4300 is supported.
Moreover, there are "any important connectors present:" two SATA, parallel ATA also a floppy drive can be applied. Two memory slots are available which are ready for 2GB of DDR2-667 in a total. On the outside, the Shuttle T-Series Barebone SS31T provides "six USB, VGA, serial, Ethernet and twice PS/2 connectors."
