M3: "A very small and sleek PC"

M3: Media centre PCs were in focus of the editors of the Swedish multimedia magazine M3. Sure Shuttle with "its many years of experience in the small form factor segment" couldn't miss this group test. The Shuttle XPC mini X 200 was well-prepared to face the competition and impressed the editors with its design, "nearly noiseless operation" and media centre functionality.

The Shuttle XPC mini X 200 configured as tested showed up with an Intel Core Duo processor, 1GB of memory, 300GB hard disk and wifi.

Apart from this configuration, the X 200 "can be compiled on the manufacturer's web site with numerous other processor, memory and hard disk alternatives," according to M3.

Having powered the system on, the editors were struck by its whisper quiet operation. "For a PC, it is nearly noiseless. So if haven't got the ears of a shepherd, there's nothing about the X 200 that would bother you in the living room," states M3.

For the reason of being a media centre PC, the Shuttle XPC mini X 200 is equipped with a hybrid TV tuner that "transmits both analog and digital signals." "Even zapping through the programmes fast could not cause any crashes," the editors report.

Conclusion: "A very small and sleek PC fully-loaded with its generous hard disk."

Turning the unit around, the rear side reveals a vast array of USB and audio connectors. Also, PS2 connectors for mouse and keyboard are available. The DVI output delivered "excellent images to our TV at a resolution scaling up to 1920x1080 and a HD film ran smoothly," writes M3.
