The Register: "Ideal for duties in your living room"
The British hardware web site The Register recently had a closer look at the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA that obviously "sets a new standard." Not only in terms of design and dimensions, but it is also "stylish, quiet and has enough power on offer for a day-to-day PC," state The Register.
Having unwrapped the package the "unusual Windows PC" the editors noticed "it's the 5.5cm height that makes the difference, as the X100 can either sit on your desk as a low-profile computer or you can stand it on edge in Shuttle's swish aluminium holder as a miniscule tower."
"The slot-loading DVD drive on the front is inconspicuous and so too are the four-in-one card reader and single USB port," describe the editors the front side. "Remove the top cover and everything is packed in tightly." According to The Register, "packaging problems are eased as Shuttle is also a motherboard manufacturer familiar with designing and building the hardware that it needs."
When it comes to the muscles of the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA, there's no need to fear laptop competition, as "performance is exactly the same as a laptop with a comparable specification," writes The Register. That said, the editors also pointed out there is "enough grunt to run games, as indicated by the 3DMark05/06 scores," although it is "near-silent in operation."
Who wants to improve on hardware "can configure the X100" when placing the order.
What's this tiny PC good for? To put it in a nutshell, contrary to laptops that "are fairly rowdy when the cooling fan kicks in," the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA is "ideal for use in the living room, or anywhere that you want to avoid a noisy PC," explains The Register.
